RCSS prohibit foodstuffs for the local people in Kyaut Mae

Starting in the first week of January 2017, The Restoration council of Shan State forbade local people living in Khun Kor village tract to bring foodstuffs from Kyaut Mae to their villages. There are 4 villages in Khun Kor village tract such as Khon Kor village, Tow Care village, Owm Wee village and Man Sam village.The local people living in those villages are dependent on Kyaut Mae Market for foodstuffs and other goods.

TWO condemns arrest of over 30 Ta’ang villagers by RCSS/SSA

On 8 June, 2016, the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS/SSA) arrested over 30 villagers from Bonn Swinn village and Jone Kalann village in Manton Township. The RCSS/SSA arrested the villagers who were working in a corn farm at 11 am. Among the 30 villagers,  only 24 villagers are accounted for and 6 people have disappeared.

According to villagers, “the TNLA and Burmese military fight very often in our villages. Because of the fighting, it is not safe for us and we have to worry always, not dare go anywhere, because we do not know when the fighting will happen again. We wish the fighting would stop as soon as possible.”

The Restoration Council of Shan State/Shan State Army (RCSS/SSA), currently based in the nationally recognized Ta'ang self-administered zone, between Sain Lane and Mine Wee villages, has begun forcing local villagers to pay taxes when conducting trade between the two villages, according to local sources.

In Northern Shan State, KyoutmeDevision, Namhsan Township, an increase in conflict means the Ta’ang (Palaung) people are suffering.
In Namhsan Township, MyotThi group, East Zone, when Burmese military group LID (77), Ballalion under the command of Brigade (IB) No. (107) headed by Lieutenant General KyawKyaw Moe and TNLA Battalion (256) are fighting, Ta’ang people are very scared and students cannot attend school.
